Dal Lake Conservation Plan

An ambitious plan under the National Lake Conservation Plan, envisages conservation of Dal-Nigeen Lake in Srinagar, in India.

Implementation of the project will require re-settlement and rehabilitation of 10000 families living in the Dal-Nigeen lake for its eco-regeneration.The rehabilitation of the entire lake population is expected to cost around Rs. 486 crore.

The entire cost of rehabilitation will be borne by the Stale Government as committed by them, and this component is to be implemented concurrently with the main project. A central assistance of more than Rs. 350 crore has been announced for the rehabilitation of Dal dwellers.
